China's Bicycle Hub Market
There are nearly 30 bicycle hub enterprises in China and a number of international brands presence in the domestic market, mainly are Quando, Joy and Shinano. In 2011, the sales revenue of Chinas bicycle hub industry reached CNY 4.197 billion, year-on-year growth 43.31%. As of June 2012, the market scale of Chinas bicycle hub industry has reached CNY 1.979 billion.
As for the product structure, Taiwan manufacturers produce medium and high-end products, the representative enterprises are Quando, Joy and so on; the international brands represent the industrys top level, such as DT swiss, Shimano and so on; the products of domestic enterprises mainly concentrated in the medium and low-end fields.
As far as brand concentration degree, at present, the products of Joy and Quando account for 60%--70% market share in domestic market.
In terms of consumption structure, Chinas current consumption level is low, the medium and low-end products account for about 90% of the total products, the consumer groups focus on students, office workers, etc; the proportion of high-end product consumption is small, mainly focus on professionals, enthusiasts and white-collar workers and other consumer groups.
From the aspect of development trend, the proportion of Chinas high-end bicycle consumption will be increased gradually. The bicycle development has already in the mature stage, and needs to design the personalized and functional products according to the social needs. In the first half of 2012, although the year-on-year growth rate of Chinas economy became slower, the sales of high-end bicycles gradually improved, this suggests that the domestic market has entered the consumer upgrading period. With the improvement of domestic living standards, the high living quality will become the needs of masses of the people. The high-end products in domestic market will have a huge development potential.
